m curious as to what image Real Madrid are trying to re-establish as I always thought their pre-Jose image was one of a bunch of a classless bullies tapping up whoever they wanted while living it large on borrowed money they're never going to pay back.
t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.
aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.

Synergy, your assessment of Carrick generally mirrors mine. Carrick does tend to get caught in possession against sides that apply pressure on the ball. I remember very clearly that he used to really struggle against high tempo midfields such as Garrard/Mascherano and Lampard/Mikel/Mieireles etc. But his tendancy to struggle against such approaches has seen his weaknesses greatly exagerated in both the press and on forums such as this. The stock lines from opposition fans tends to be "Carrick is sh*t", when his medal haul and success with this club and manager would point to a very different reality. The fact they use the example of him struggling against Barcelona also seems to make their claims somewhat shallow. I struggle to remember a player, never mind a central midfield player, that hasn't struggled against Barcelona over the last 5 or 6 years.

skoolyad you only have a passing (wrong word of course) interest in midfield at Bradford so it's understandable.

@spurs57> Carrick gets slated by the idiots, but has been praised by the fans who understand football.
That being said, he has a tendency of losing the ball when he is pressured and he tends to under perform in the big games (Even in the Madrid games he lost the ball a few times in dangerous positions). This year he has been a lot better as he is playing alongside a mobile midfielder in Cleverly who tends to keep moving into space and hence Carrick always has a pass available to him when pressured. His shielding off the back four while not blood and thunder like Keane has always been exceptional.

So, WBA's win percentage with Mulumbu and Yacob in the team is evidence of their importance, but West Ham's poor form since Cole joined it 'pretty irrelevant'. Hmm

Respect for your love of Beausejour, that man is a prodigious crosser of the ball. Despite yesterday's gubbing we still hope that between him, Kone & co and our very underrated midfield we can pick up the neccessary points again. And we have Villa at home on the last day, ooooooh!!

Started to read article. Noted the absence of Cazorla from Arsenal's list. Stopped reading. Utter rubbish. I love Arteta and would always argue his worth, but his inclusion in place of one of the finest playmakers in Europe is ridiculous.

Imo Sandro should definitely be in the list of our MVPs. Dembele started brilliantly. He had a Parker-esque start in a way with us winning every game he started in the first 2-3 months. But he has gone off the boil since the start of the year. Sandro on the other hand was our player of the season until he got injured.

@spurs57, Carrick always got the credit he deserved in our colours. He was the heartbeat of the team at that time.

@ Mulsey, Carrick never got the credit he deserved at spurs either.I was one of the few that i know who realised what he did for the team, only have to look at the season after he left to see his contribution. He doesnt get the credit because he isnt flash, just does everything well and makes it look simple, I'd have him back in an instant.
