Premier League Numbers And Stats

Rio Ferdinand has waited over five years for an assist, Daniel Sturridge had a pretty rotten 84 minutes, Wigan are great against poor sides and more geekery...

Well maybe pein and HarryBoulton would take Rooney but a certain red nosed manager would choose van Persie, so draw what you will from that. It seems Fergie even prefers Welbeck this season.

Isn't it a strikers job to score goals? so how else do u rate a striker? Rooney has been playing as a second striker for a number of seasons now, including this season while RVP plays as an all out center forward, yet Rooney still scores a lot of goals. and yeah I would take Rooney over RVP

I do wonder what criteria would be for assessing a defender. The colour of his socks, maybe. I've always had a problem with player wearing earrings. They're all terrible. Based purely on their earrings. You cannot be considered a great player if you have ever worn an earring.

In fairness to RVPs record last year - compare how many of his 30 goals were penalties, to Wayne's 27.

"It is not as simplistic as looking at who scores the most goals when judging a striker". But apparently it's a good way of assessing an attacking midfidler............ ;-p

RvP carried a mediocre Arsenal team on his own last season and has continued his form at Utd that is why he is rated higher than Wazza. It is not as simplistic as looking at who scores the most goals when judging a striker.Would any sane fan want Rooney ahead of RvP???

pein - because it suits their argument. Revisionism at it's finest. People will cut and paste selected bits from history to try and make their argument stand up to scrutiny.

I really don't get why suddenly people' think RVP us a world class striker and Rooney isn't. RVP has had one good season(last year) and then half of this season and suddenly he's better than Rooney who has been banging the goals in since he arrived at United. In case u don't know RVP only scored 3 goals more than Rooney in the premier league last season(30 and 27)

I

m curious as to what image Real Madrid are trying to re-establish as I always thought their pre-Jose image was one of a bunch of a classless bullies tapping up whoever they wanted while living it large on borrowed money they're never going to pay back.

A

t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.

aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.
