Lampard is and always will be Mr Consistency next to Gerrards X-factor.

Its the way he plays, its less dynamism and more ruthless efficiency. You think of Giggs, you think of slaloming runs, speed, etc. Same as Gerrard, its howitzer goals, grabbing games by the scruff off the neck, imposing yourself physically - With Lampard, its all substance and not much sizzle. The results are the same (or better), but it doesn't stick in the mind....

I truly think its because of HOW he plays, rather than him per se. With Giggs, you have various images of him running full pelt, slamloming, leaving people in the dust etc. Same as Gerrard, you think howitzer shots, grabbing games by the scruff off the neck. With Frank, he's ruthlessly efficient. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't stick in the memory like the others. H'e great, but not 'memorable'

I've always loved Frank as a player since his days at West Ham. I was totally gutted when he joined Chelsea and being a rabid Arsenal fan. I've obviously had the requisite hatred for him because of who he played for. But as a neutral, I've always thought that he was a class act.

Personally I've never had a problem with Lampard apart from the fact he played for a club other than my own and he was/is a bloody good player. The whole Gerrard/Lampard debate is also a load of pointless twaddle for me. I support Liverpool therefore I like Gerrard more. You ask a Chelsea fan, they like Lampard more. You ask a neutral, they probably swing either way... Who gives a sh*t? The whole class thing is a load of b.llox plain and simple. You think people wouldn't like prince Harry if he scored 20 goals a season for their club just cause he's royal? Of course not.. they'd more likely hate him cause he's ginger... In any interview i've seen of him he seems like a fairly likeable chap, not particularly arrogant and certainly saying nothing that requires me to hate him. So congratulations on the achievement to Frank and hope you get your new contract for being such a good servant to your club... ps i have nothing against gingers, some of my best friends are ginger...

Top player, top professional and seemingly quite a humble and likeable bloke (admittedly from his TV appearances. Just a lot of people, including me, don't like the team he plays for.

I wouldn't say that Lampard is looked on negatively. I think most people perceive him to be a decent and likeable person. My guess is that it's more than likely the style of which he plays the game which fans struggle with. Players like Gerard have the ability to rouse the crowd. Scholes has the respect from fans because of his technical genius. Lampard always seemed to me to be the type of player that just seems to work off others and have the uncanny ability to fins himself in the box at the right time. In short - he's not the most exciting to player to watch and this probably invites negativity.
