Pablo Zabaleta: The Catalyst For City Success

Have Manchester City bought a better value-for-money signing since Pablo Zabaleta arrived in 2008? Against Aston Villa, he was at the heart of everything positive once again...

United could do with players of this quality

Indesputedly the best right-back in the league since he signed, give or take. One of "those" players whose quality simply cannot be called into question. Only an idiot would say he's anything other than fantstic, surely.

@paddywhack...The reason we'd sign Sagna would be to rotate the two of them (like Clichy and Kolarov on the left). Plus Zabaleta is one of the few fullbacks comfortable on either the left or right, so he could play there with Sagna on the right, if we had to be pragmatic regarding the squad size for example.

Best right back in the league with Sagna in the last few years. Only Coleman lately could get into this discussion. Great player. Terrific attitude. Nothing bad to say against him.

Not necessarily addressing this to Daniel Storey directly, as I can't remeber who wrote the article about Dzeko not long ago (why do I think it might have been Stanger?) but any reconsideration from 365 of the opinion on the big Bosnian? The line was that he wasn't good enough to be City's back-up striker and they need to replace him in the summer. The 3rd choice front man has 24 goals for the campaign! He even chipped in with an important one last night too.

Can't see how he can be called an unsung hero. He's been the best right-back in the league for a few years now. The only challenger this year has been Coleman and, to be completely honest, I feel his season has been a little overrated.

He is the reason I will be baffled if Sagna ends up at City.

@plashch.....When you watched all those games, were you p***ed? Never heard so much tosh in my life. His defending has been as solid as any City fans could ask for.

Great player. Worthy of his cult status. He does need cover/rotation though. We all hoped it would be Richards, but his injuries mean he is just too inconsistent to be the back up needed. Great lad, but his physique combined with his style doesn't seem suited to playing football. Zabba has been sensational, poor bugger needs a rest though. He's pretty much played every single game. @ildiavolorosso yep Hughesless did sign both Viiny & Zabba, but mainly used both as a defensive midfielder. Kompany was largely left out when De Jong arrived, Mancini made these two or rather gave these two the opportunity to shine.

lassic management. Build them up and then knock them back. Raise expectations and then dampen them. Create a dynamic where by you demand the most from your team, but where the team are given room to manoeuvre unexpected or unwanted results. Classy work by Van Gaal, he really reminds me a lot of me. A smart cookie, make no doubt.
