Premier League Winners And Losers...

No question about who tops the winners while Liverpool are included despite, frankly, cocking it up. Arsenal are in the losers list as they face another summer of 'what if'...

Arsenal did well and probably would have been champions if two of their best players had not got injured for so long. Don't think Wenger needs to buy much, another striker and, maybe, an extra defensive midfielder and a right back. They have an excellent squad, skillfull than Chelsea. City will be the team to beat for the next 2 or 3 years, though, I think.

@th14thesecond - "The fact that the media consistently and blatantly overlook the GOOD work that Arsene and Arsenal do is actually incredible to me." - I think that statement needs some elaboration to see what you mean by 'GOOD work'.

Would any other club in the world spend £50m on a striker who was already lacking in confidence ?

@Jay_D - Torres confidence hasn't been seen since before he left Liverpool, so it'll be hard for anyone to shoot his confidence to pieces. Ba I feel probably deserved more chances, but he wasn't a player Mourinho really wanted, as we know as he tried to offload him on loan to Arsenal before Lukaku threw his dummy out the pram. As for Eto'o he took a long time to adjust to the Prem and then got injured and was only ever here as an add on to the Willian signing.

Aaron Ramsey made us all wonder what would have happened had he and Walcott stayed fit; not about Wenger buying anyone. The injuries are the same old dismantling force.

United in the winners section and ARSENAL in the losers' section - Matt has again proved he is a vindictive little man who just hates Arsenal....surprised? Not really....

chelseablue_no1, you watch more chelsea for me so I'll take your word for it but whenever I've seen Chelsea struggle in front of goal this season, I've felt a lack of invention has been a bigger issue than a striker. Mourinho utterly destroying Torres and Ba's confidence probably didn't help, mind.

@Jay_D - Mata wouldn't have helped, during the two previous Prem seasons we scored 75, 65 comapred to 71 goals this season, so not much difference. The problem we've had over the last few season, not just this season, is not having a 20+ Prem goal a season striker. Wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea are top of the missed chances league as it hasn't been a failure to create chances, it's been the failure to finish those chances.

@chelseablue_no1, I just don't buy the "Chelsea need a striker" argument. Yes, there are better forwards in world football but Torres and Ba are not rubbish despite what Mourinho would have us, and them, believe. And if unlocking defences was the problem, Mourinho probably shouldn't have sold your best player over the previous two seasons. I don't know about "walk the league" but a less intransigent manager would have definitely done better.
