Craig Gardner: Sunderland host Fulham on Saturday

The Black Cats entertain the Londoners at the Stadium of Light on Saturday having won 3-1 at Craven Cottage in November and desperate to serve up a repeat after a poor run of results.

Martin O'Neill's men have lost each of their last three league games and taken just a single point from the last four to slip back towards the relegation zone.

Gardner told the club's official website: "We need to make the most of every game, and we have got some good games coming up now, so hopefully we can hit the ground running and get some points.

"They are a good team and obviously beating them at their place was a big result for us, and hopefully we will turn them over on Saturday."

Sunderland face QPR and Norwich immediately after Fulham and will hope to start their points total ticking over once again ahead of leaders Manchester United's visit to Wearside on March 30.

However, if they are to start the ball rolling this weekend, they may have to keep tight rein on striker Dimitar Berbatov, who underlined his enduring quality with a stunning winner against Stoke on Saturday.

Gardner said: "He's a top-class player. You can see that in his goal last weekend and by the career he's had.

"Hopefully we can keep him quiet and get the three points on Saturday."
