Stevenson has been offered the ban for his flying challenge on Hibernian captain James McPake.
Hibs boss Pat Fenlon said McPake had suffered a gash on his shin after the tackle during last Thursday's goalless SPL clash at Tynecastle.
Stevenson left the ground and led with both feet as the players contested a 50-50 on the right side of Hibernian's defence but referee Willie Collum took no action.
Scottish Football Association compliance officer Vincent Lunny has decided the challenge was worthy of punishment though and today charged Stevenson with serious foul play.
The former Ipswich midfielder has until 3pm tomorrow to respond to the notice of complaint with a hearing date scheduled for Thursday should he challenge the suspension.
Stevenson would miss an SPL clash at Celtic Park and the Easter Road semi-final against Inverness on January 26 if found guilty by a tribunal panel.
Fenlon hit out at the tackle after watching television footage after the match.
"It's a shocking tackle," Fenlon said. "He had a look first before he left the ground. We're disappointed with that.
"He has a bad gash, James. There could have been a bit of damage there, but he's not too bad."
