Since making his breakthrough into the Hearts first team on the opening day of the season, Carrick has netted four goals for the club.

But the 20-year-old is not sure if the club will activate a clause in his contract that will keep him at Tynecastle, and admits his future will only be looked at once Hearts have sorted their off-field problems.

The Maroons have struggled this season since being deducted 15 points for going into administration. They sit bottom of the league and look certain to play Scottish Championship football next season.

Hearts' administrator Bryan Jackson is still waiting to meet with Lithuanian creditors Ukio Bankas, which is prolonging the club's effort to come out of administration.

"I really hope I've done enough. All I can do is keep playing my best football but I'm delighted with my form right now," Carrick said in the Daily Record.

"And the main thing is what happens off the field. When that's sorted, hopefully we'll get everyone tied up.

"The Championship will be a cracking test and I'm really looking forward to it."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
