The Hibernian striker scored a double to give the visitors a 2-1 win at St Mirren Park in August and followed it up with another brace when Pat Fenlon's side came out on top by the same scoreline in Leith in November.

Ahead of the visit of fifth-placed Hibs on Saturday, Buddies boss Lennon concurred with the notion that keeping Griffiths quiet would be key to a home win and with that, the possibility of another step away from bottom side Dundee, whom they lead by 15 points.

"There is no doubt about that," said Lennon.

"I don't think he is a one-man band but he has certainly been a thorn in our side with the quality of goals that he has scored.

"We certainly know the threat that Leigh possesses and we know he is going to be a handful.

"It is up to us to make sure we know what their strengths are but we also have to exploit their weaknesses.

"And the one thing we are doing is creating good quality opportunities and long may that continue.

"Hibs have had a very good campaign so far, they have always been in the top six and that's good progress for Pat Fenlon, his staff and his players.

"But our aim is to go out there and get the three points.

"We know the challenge, we have already beaten us twice this season but we have different personnel and greater confidence than we did in those two games.

"We are in a good place at this minute in time, everyone knows their role and their place in the team dynamic."

St Mirren go into the game with just one defeat in nine and with the Scottish Communities League Cup final against Hearts looming next month.

Lennon believes the prospect of playing in the Hampden showpiece on March 17 will have a positive effect on his players in the intervening matches.

He said: "We are in the final, we are in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup and we find ourselves close to the bottom of the league at this moment in time but only nine points off second place which shows you how competitive the league is at the moment.

"Since November the players have started to hit the true form that I thought they could but there is much more to come from us.

"And I think the fact that we have a final coming is going to keep that focus stronger."
