Stead, sold by Huddersfield to Blackburn for £1.25million in 2004, rejoined Town from Bristol City on a free transfer in the summer.

But the 30-year-old striker sustained a groin injury during pre-season and, with fellow summer signing Martin Paterson chosen to start alongside leading goalscorer James Vaughan, Stead has had to settle for four substitute appearances

"I'm fully fit and have been for probably three-and-a-half-weeks now," Stead said.

"There's no problems with my injury or anything, so I'm just biding my time now and will hopefully get an opportunity to play a few more minutes.

"When the team's doing well it's not as difficult to sit on the sidelines because you haven't really got a problem with things, you just have to train hard and wait.

"If we had lost every game at the start of the season and I still wasn't getting a chance, that's when it becomes frustrating.

"But that's not been the case. We lost the last game against Barnsley after going on a decent run, so whether it comes on Saturday, Tuesday or the coming weeks, I'll bide my time, but I'm ready for my chance."

h Daniel. I could spend hours on this subject putting the world to rights. You can even take a step back and ask why football fans (and society in general) have this need to know that something will happen before it actually does. There are times this important, when it comes to things like war, food production and natural disasters. A man you've never met changing his job? Not so much.

reat article. Hits the nail on the head. Encapsulates why I don't read tabloid newspapers anymore. The only thing worse is the 'told you so first' headline when they get lucky.
