Ward's current deal runs out this summer, but the 23-year-old gave Robins a timely reminder of his talents by firing his first hat-trick for the club in Saturday's 4-1 win at Watford.

"There is scope to do something and we will have a conversation early next week. He hasn't done his chances any harm," Robins said after his side registered their biggest win on the road this season.

"I have said for a long time that Danny gets himself in brilliant positions, but he doesn't always convert.

"In training he does, so we know that he has the ability. People see him as a winger, but as a youngster he played through the centre and did well.

"I believe he is better through the middle, he can sometimes get isolated on the wing."

Ward has recently completed his third year at the club having joined from Bolton, initially on loan, in March 2011.

Huddersfield agreed an undisclosed fee with Bolton for Ward in July 2011 and he has made a total of 126 appearances, scoring 21 goals.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
