Bruce wants focused Tigers

Hull manager Steve Bruce is determined not to let any complacency creep into his squad following their impressive rise into the top two of the Championship, warning his players the job is only half done.

Steve Bruce: Hull host Leicester on Boxing Day

The Tigers' 2-1 win at Derby on Friday was their fourth on the trot in the league and lifted them up to second spot, three points behind leaders Cardiff.

Bruce is understandably delighted with his side's efforts but, speaking ahead of the visit of fifth-placed Leicester on Boxing Day, he is also at pains to point out there is still a long way to go.

"It has been so refreshing to work with this group. They're a good bunch and deserve the little bit of acclaim they're getting at the moment," Bruce said on his club's website.

"But we have to remember that we're still only half way. The players have got that bounce about them, winning games give you that.

"As I've said so many times, it's no good being top of the league at Christmas. We need to be there when the daffodils come up and if we're still there or thereabouts, we'll have a chance."
