The Tigers are in second place behind Cardiff and still have a six-point advantage over Watford with three matches remaining despite losing 1-0 at Wolves.

The impact of the defeat, courtesy of a 55th-minute goal from Kevin Doyle, was cushioned by the Hornets' 1-0 reverse at Millwall.

"It would have been nice to have got a result, of course it would, but we'll have to go to the weekend," said Bruce, whose side host already-relegated Bristol City on Friday night.

"I don't think we were ever going to do it easy, it's still all to play for.

"Up until today we were third, I think, over the last 10 games in terms of form so we've managed to hang on in there when the tickly bit starts and it's certainly upon us now.

"Our opponents have found it very, very difficult too. So it's all to play for. We've been helped, there's another game gone and we need four points.

"It can help playing Friday, but obviously it's the recovery - three games in six days again is difficult.

"But yes, it's a wonderful advantage if we can take advantage of it.

"It's in our hands, we can make a giant leap forward if we can go and get a result on Friday."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.
