He has been the subject of bids from Steve Bruce's men this summer and rumours surfaced on Sunday night that the Denmark international had asked to leave the King Power Stadium in order to speed up a protracted move to the Tigers.

But the 26-year-old told his followers on Twitter: "Contrary to reports I have never put a transfer request in and won't be."

Schmeichel has one year remaining on his contract with Leicester for whom he has made over 100 appearances since signing from Leeds for an undisclosed fee in June 2011.

The son of Manchester United great Peter, Schmeichel began his career with Manchester City, before signing for Notts County in 2009.

Simon Grayson took him to Leeds a year later.

Schmeichel made his senior Denmark debut in a 3-0 defeat to Macedonia in February.
