Boyd has spent his career until now in the lower leagues and is looking forward to competing against the best in the business after helping the Tigers gain promotion.

Steve Bruce's side begin their campaign away to Chelsea on Sunday in a match which sees the return of Jose Mourinho to English football, and Boyd is raring to go.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's a dream come true. To go through everything that happens in the lower leagues, it makes it all the more special and to go out at Stamford Bridge on Sunday will be unbelievable.

"The gaffer's been brilliant and the team unity has also been a big factor. There are no egos and we all want to go in the same direction.

"Chelsea is a big one with Mourinho back. That will be amazing just because of the stuff he brings to the table.

"We have two of the big four early (with a trip to Manchester City on August 31) and that may help us to get them out of the way early.

"There are so many world-class players and it is just exciting to be able to test yourself against these players."

Boyd believes Hull are capable of springing a surprise against Chelsea, adding: "They are expected to win but we can go there with confidence from our promotion and we've got nothing to lose."

The 27-year-old admits that he would settle for a 17th-place finish so that Hull have a chance to build for the future and become an established Premier League club.

"Just to survive and taste it for another year would be brilliant," he said.

"We have done some very good business and brought some Premier League experience in."

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
