A total of 2,565 fans voted in a recent ballot in favour of the name change, with the Allam family continuing in charge of the Premier League club.

The proposal was rejected by 2,517 fans - 48 fewer - who selected the 'No to Hull Tigers' option.

A further 792 votes went to the 'I am not too concerned and will continue to support the club either way' option.

However, of the 15,033 eligible to vote, 9,159 chose not to, so just 17 per cent of season ticket holders backed the name change.

Hull said in a statement the ballots were counted independently by Beyond Dispute.

Hull's owners, the Allam family, formally applied to alter the name in December after club chairman Assem Allam, who has vowed to walk away from the KC Stadium if the name change is blocked, branded the City suffix "lousy" and "common".

However, after the Football Association's Membership Committee recommended the Full Council to reject their proposal at its meeting on April 9, City confirmed that the club would hold a poll for season ticket holders and accused the FA of being prejudiced.

The move has been met with derision from sections of the club's fans - who set up a campaign group named 'City Till We Die' to rally against the change - though Allam has claimed the switch would help Hull become financially self-sufficient.

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
