Butcher: McKay going nowhere

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Terry Butcher does not want to lose leading scorer Billy McKay in January and hopes to agree new contracts with some of his players.

McKay has scored 16 goals for Inverness this season and has netted in his last six appearances - a run which started with the winner at Celtic last month.

The 24-year-old has been linked with the likes of Derby County and Millwall, but Butcher is determined to keep the former Northampton forward at Inverness.

"There is no way we want to lose Billy," said Butcher in the Inverness Courier. "That hasn't even entered my thoughts.

"I gave Billy a two-year deal in the summer and a few people thought I had lost my senses.

"As it happens, it has turned out to be a very good piece of business. We've worked hard to get into the position we are currently enjoying. Why would you want to disrupt that?

"If anything we're looking to extend deals and add to this group. Hopefully, we will have some positive news on contract extensions at the end of the week."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
