Terry Butcher: Hopes to make 2013 a special year

Caley Thistle have only lost once in 19 games and have already scored 55 goals this season.

Inverness have a Scottish League cup semi-final against Hearts and Scottish Cup tie against Kilmarnock to look forward to in the coming weeks.

But they first have a Highland derby at Ross County on Wednesday and Butcher is aiming to start the year with a bang and maintain second place in the Scottish Premier League.

Butcher said: "We've had the better of Ross County and we've had the better of quite a few sides in the SPL so far this season with one defeat in something like our last 20 matches.

"I don't know and I'm not being blase about it because it's a nice stat to have, only two teams have beaten us this season with Motherwell doing it twice.

"We're just delighted to do what we have done but we haven't achieved anything yet.

"We're in a great position and want to make 2013 a special year for us.

"We want to get the year off to the perfect start and that match is the all important one, the Highland derby."

Inverness have knocked the Dingwall side out of the Scottish Cup, after a replay, and won the first SPL meeting between the sides 3-1.

Butcher said: "The County game with Hearts was called off so they'll be allegedly a lot fresher than us but we're unbeaten there this season and unbeaten against them so we want to keep it that way.

"We'll certainly enjoy it, it's part four of the Highland installment or soap opera if you like."

Butcher added: "We also want to maintain where we are in the league going into 2013 but I think this team is improving and the squad is as well.

"We'll see what the January transfer window brings and we'll see what interest there is in my players and what other business we can do but I don't envisage doing anything.

"In 2013 hopefully we can look forward to goals, points and finishing this season off with a real bang."
