With the scores tied and 20 minutes remaining, Collum deemed Meekings had denied Josh Magennis a clear goalscoring opportunity - a decision Hughes disputed.

He said: "I didn't think it was a red card. Josh Magennis would not have got the second touch to the ball as Graeme Shinnie was getting that.

"He got it wrong - it wasn't a red card. I asked for an explanation from the fourth official, but he found it very difficult to give me one."

St Mirren boss Danny Lennon had sympathy with his Caley Thistle counterpart adding: "I think that Josh's pace might have taken him through, but perhaps it was a little bit harsh as the two players were shoulder to shoulder.

"You take a decision like that, but sometimes in puts a spanner in your own works because the other team then tries to hold on.

"They withdrew a bit, played two banks of four with one striker and that made it a little bit harder for us to break them down."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
