The versatile Mohsni endured a chequered campaign with Southend last season, gaining just as many headlines for his off-field exploits as his talent on it.
The 25-year-old refused to return to Roots Hall over the summer, stressing his desire to leave the Essex outfit.
A number of clubs have taken a look at Mohsni, with Ipswich the latest having seen him train with them last week as he scored in their 6-0 reserve rout of Cardiff. But he turned his back on an invite to extend his trial at Portman Road and has instead returned to Paris.
Town manager Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "We had Bilel Mohsni here from Southend for a few days and we asked him to stay for this week because we wanted to have a longer look at him but he decided against it so that's over now."
Despite his contract with Southend running until the end of the season, United boss Paul Sturrock has already stated Mohsni will not be returning to the club.
