Mick McCarthy: Delighted for the supporters

McCarthy oversaw his first match in charge on home soil on Saturday as Town triumphed 2-1 over Burnley, having taken three points from his opening two games at the helm - both on the road.

It was a moment to savour for Ipswich fans, who had gone more than seven months without seeing a victory at Portman Road - the last of which being a 1-0 success over Barnsley on March 31.

"It's lovely for them," McCarthy said. "They want something to shout about and support and we all want to feel how I feel now, which is nice and happy.

"I'm delighted for them because it's such a nice club and the supporters are great."

Meanwhile, McCarthy is waiting to discover whether a loan extension can be agreed with Leicester for Richie Wellens. The midfielder's one-month stay expired after the win over Burnley and the decision now lies with Foxes boss Nigel Pearson.
