Mick McCarthy: Ipswich manager takes his team to Reading on the opening day

In a tough opening to the campaign for Mick McCarthy's side, Ipswich will also face Queens Park Rangers and Wigan Athletic - both of whom are fresh from relegation from the Premier League - away in their first eight games.

Town's first home match of the season is against Millwall, while Leeds United will also visit Portman Road during August.

September brings three home games against Middlesbrough, promoted Yeovil Town and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Over Christmas, Ipswich will travel to the two teams who won automatic promotion from League One last season, with Doncaster Rovers the Boxing Day opponents and then Bournemouth in the final game of 2013.

The New Year starts with a home date against Charlton Athletic and there is a hectic period of seven fixtures in March.

Ipswich will conclude the season at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 3rd May.

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
