Tiago: Injury blow

Atletico Madrid are set to be without midfielder Tiago for the foreseeable future after he suffered a broken arm during the Copa del Rey semi-final against Sevilla.

Tiago sustained the injury in the first half of the match at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan during a challenge with Sevilla midfielder Gary Medel and, after undergoing tests in Madrid, it was confirmed the Portugal international had broken a bone in his right forearm.

Atletico announced on their website that the 31-year-old will now need to undergo surgery on the injury.

The Rojiblancos have not said how long Tiago is likely to be missing for, but reports in Spain suggest he could be absent for two months.

Atletico drew Wednesday night's semi-final second leg 2-2 to progress through 4-3 on aggregate, and they will meet local rivals Real Madrid in the final in May.
