Gerardo Martino has re-emerged as the heavy favourite to be the next Barcelona manager following an industry-wide gamble.

The former Paraguay boss was backed at as short as 1/20 with Sky Bet, prompting them to suspended betting.

The development comes just hours after he was replaced at the head of the betting by Guus Hiddink, who slashed from 7/1 to 4/11 after leaving his position as Anzhi Makhachkala boss.

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "We've had to suspend betting on the next Barca boss with punters still lumping on Martino at ridiculously short prices.

"It comes shortly after Hiddink was backed heavily but his exit from Anzhi is now looking like a mere coincidence."

resumably, you wanted to keep the version of Downing that was never seen at Anfield. The one that another manager has managed to re-create. The one you passed over.
