Injury boost for key pair

Walsall manager Dean Smith expects both Jimmy Walker and Jon Macken to be available for the crucial game against Wycombe.

Macken: Key man for Saddlers

The duo, who were both injured in the defeat to Notts County, will miss this weekend's clash with Colchester, but Smith is relieved that they will not miss a larger period.

"Their injuries are both only grade one so they won't be out long-term, they could be back in a couple of weeks. Sometimes these injuries could be up to four to six weeks so it's really good," Smith told the Express and Star.

The postponement of the Saddlers' weekend fixture with Scunthorpe ensured the pair haven't missed another fixture, but that result meant Wycombe leapfrogged Walsall to leave them in the relegation zone.

But Smith refused to panic about the result, insisting whichever way the game went, there would be a positive outcome for the Saddlers.

"The result could have gone three ways for us. If Wycombe would have got beaten then we would have been quite happy because they are still behind us. If they'd drawn, Tranmere would have been a point further away and Wycombe a point closer. But Wycombe winning means they go above you but it keeps Tranmere closer to you."

bsolutely delighted for Chelsea, what a story. Particularly happy for Drogba to (possibly) sign off a career on such a high note. Wonder how the spurs fans are feeling tonight.

eah yeah, whatever fatty. Keep trying to talk down a competition you'll never play in. I bet you'll get relegated next season and claim the 38th game is more important than the CL final too.
