Bywater, 30, sold by first club Rochdale to West Ham for £300,000 as a 16-year-old in 1998 before he had played a first-team game, prides himself on his personal fitness.
He said: "I get in early and have a bath and a stretch. I'm in the bath at about 7am until about 7.30am, then I do yoga for an hour, then it's upper body.
"I'll go outside and do some training and then do some weights. That's my daily routine. I want to play until I'm 40.
"I get up at that time anyway. I've got two kids and they get me up, so that's a blessing. The yoga's really good. They introduced it at Derby a few years back with the girls who did the dvd with Ryan Giggs and I've just carried it on."
Bywater had loan spells at Wycombe, Hull, Wolves, Cardiff and Coventry while at Upton Park before joining Derby in 2006 and after an initial three-month loan spell at Hillsborough, he signed permanently for Wednesday at the turn of the year.
