Former Accrington boss Coleman moved to Spotland in January but was unable to halt their slide out of the third tier after a two-season stay.
Following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield that sealed relegation, chairman Chris Dunphy revealed dropping down a league would cost the club in the region of £500,000 but reassured fans that the long-term future of the club is secure.
"The club's always been prudently run and I don't think they're going to risk the long-term future of the club," Coleman told BBC Late Kick-Off North West.
"Football is littered with teams who speculate to accumulate with money that they haven't got. You see administration on a yearly basis, teams getting docked points and it's unfair. It's immoral.
"That was one of the things we prided ourselves on at Accrington, that we never went down that road."
