The former Leeds centre-half has made over 100 appearance for the U's since joining in May 2008 and his current deal is set to expire.

"I would like to stay here, as long as everything is right - I'm happy around the area, so yes, I would like to stay," he told the East Anglian Daily.

"I've been offered a new contract. A lot of players have been spoken to and I'm guessing it's just a matter of sorting out people's personal terms.

"I couldn't think of anything worse than going away and knowing that you're going to have to go around places on trial.

"So it would be nice to get something sorted before I say goodbye to everyone this summer."
