Waddock set his sights on celebratory scenes in 12 months' time after falling to a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday which clinched the South Yorkshire club's promotion to the Championship.

Michail Antonio gave the hosts a 25th-minute lead following a burst into the area. Wycombe keeper Nikki Bull, who had kept the Owls at bay with some fine saves, was beaten again by Nile Ranger's 52nd-minute header.

Waddock said: "We were up against some big clubs at this level.

"Hopefully in a year's time we'll be able to get back to this level. We need to bring in some new faces.

"I thought we handled it very well here. We had a few young players out there and it was a fantastic atmosphere."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
