Iron manager Alan Knill is already planning for a possible promotion challenge next season and goalkeeper Josh Lillis, defenders Andrew Wright, Eddie Nolan and Ashley Palmer, midfielders Michael O'Connor and Sam Togwell, and striker Aron Wint have all been told they no longer feature in his plans.

Knill told the club's official website: "It was a very, very difficult day. I would like to place on record my thanks to the players for all their hard work since I came to the club and wish them all the best for the future."

Striker Bobby Grant is the only out-of-contract player to be kept on as the Iron have taken up the optional year on his current deal.
