Doyle: Offers kudos to Wilson

Wilson's appointment as Micky Adams' successor almost 12 months ago was met with anger among some Blades fans due to the fact that he was a former player and manager at city rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

But Wilson has won over the fans after steering them to the verge of the Championship after being pipped by the Owls for automatic promotion.

"It's great for the club after last season and credit to the manager for coming in last summer and galvanising," Doyle told the club's official website.

"After the disappointment of not getting promoted automatically we have now achieved part one of succeeding through the play-offs. Now we have to go to Wembley on Saturday, perform on the big day and beat Huddersfield Town, which will know will be a tough task.

"It isn't every season you get to experience the type of emotion we did last Monday, but I have waited 10 years to enjoy a moment like the other night and now I'm excited about playing at Wembley. It's in our hands to finish the job off at the weekend."
