Abbott: Raring to go

The Cumbrians play their final friendly of pre-season against Morecambe at The Globe Arena on Tuesday evening and Abbott says his team are in good shape.

"We've worked hard over the last few weeks and we're pleased with how the squad looks," he told the club's official website. "The last two friendlies in particular have helped us to really test ourselves and we've seen that fitness wise we are there.

"I think we'll always find things we can improve or work on, win lose or draw, but the important thing is that we're ready to go for Saturday."

"We played Morecambe last August and it was a game played at a really good tempo. That's why we were delighted when the opportunity came up for us to do it again.

"The rest of the week is about making sure we're all in top condition ahead of the weekend. We'll do more ball work and shape work and we'll really concentrate on how we want to approach things, so that we get off to the kind of start we all want."
