Edwards: In his Magpies days

Edwards, 32, spent eight years at Meadow Lane before making the move to Brunton Park in the summer and looks set to face his former team-mates on Saturday.

With Abbott looking for his side to improve on their record of one home league win this season, he feels Edwards' inside information could be vital.

He told the Carlisle News & Star: "Mike has got a lot on his plate keeping himself fit and preparing for the threat of Francois (Zoko), Lee Hughes and the rest.

"We know a lot about Notts County, as we do a lot of the teams at this level.

"But Mike's knowledge and information will be invaluable."
