The former Paris Saint-Germain trainee admits it has been a testing time since picking up an injury in pre-season and with the Dons defenders currently impressing, Kouo-Doumbe is having to be patient.

"It's been frustrating for a while now," he told the club's official website. "I was disappointed to get injured during pre-season but that's part of football and it's important you get your head right when you're injured and try and recover as quickly as possible.

"Sometimes, though, there's not much you can really do but I've always put my head down and worked hard with the physios and I've now been back in training for a few weeks.

"I'm just waiting for my chance. It's good to know that under Karl [Robinson] you'll keep your place if you're playing well so it's really important I take my opportunity when it comes."
