Laws recently returned for his third spell in charge at Glanford Park and wasted no time in drafting in Mildenhall on loan from Millwall, with the 33-year-old helping the Iron secure successive away league wins under their new manager.
Scunthorpe, who play high-flying Notts County at home on Saturday, remain in the bottom four with only four wins from their 17 league games and Mildenhall said: "I understood the situation when I joined the club.
"We need to get the lads' confidence back up there and that's important really and at the moment - after the last two games - we don't think we should be in fear of any side.
"If we continue to play and pick up points like we are doing, we'll have a good season after such a slow start."
Mildenhall added on the club's official website: "We need to build on this. We can't rest on our laurels, we need to kick on this week - put a show on for the supporters and get them back in the ground."
