Laws: Sweating on Canavan injury

Canavan slipped and landed awkwardly in the closing stages of the defeat to Doncaster at the Keepmoat but was forced to play on as Laws had already made three substitutions.

With David Mirfin injured and Paul Reid still suspended, the Iron are desperately short of options at the back with the emergency loan window now closed.

"We will have a look on Monday and assess him," he told the club's official website. "Luckily we have a weekend off next week before we face Bournemouth - but we are worryingly short back there.

"The biggest loss was obviously our captain (Paul Reid) though suspension (until after the Bournemouth game). With him in the side we looked fairly solid; he had developed a good understanding with Niall.

"Then we lose him for three games, leaving us with somebody who has barely played this season and has just joined the club alongside Niall."
