Martin's 18-month deal will keep him at Gresty Road until summer 2014.

The 23-year-old former Scotland Under-21 international was initially handed a short-term contract when he returned for pre-season training this year and went on to establish himself as Alex's number one, with Steve Phillips sidelined due to knee surgery.

Phillips' return to fitness has not yet had any bearing on Martin's 100% league appearance record this term.
