Karl Robinson: Will speak to his chairman

Karl Robinson: Will speak to his chairman

The managerless Seasiders came in for him just hours before the Dons' 2-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Shaun Williams' penalty and Dean Bowditch's free-kick handed the Dons a richly-deserved 2-0 win in their replay at stadium:mk to set up a fourth-round trip to QPR.

Blackpool made an official approach to MK Dons to speak to Robinson in the build-up to the game and he suggested he is prepared to listen to what the Tangerines have to say.

He said: "I was being ill all day, I was at the doctor's this morning, struggling to make it to the game and then I was sat at home and I see on the ticker 'Karl Robinson linked with Blackpool'.

"At that stage I wasn't meant to sit in the dugout, I was meant to sit in a room to watch the game because the doctor told me to stay out the way of everybody.

"But I thought I can't do that now because it will look a little bit suspect.

"All I do know is the chairman has asked for a meeting with me in half an hour and I'll know the truth then.

"I do believe something has happened but I don't know what it is - obviously I'll speak to the chairman then we'll see what happens from there really.

"I didn't want to know anything before the game because I think it's unfair to the football club.

"Whatever then happens I think it's then fair that my decision is made internally - that doesn't mean I'm staying or going, but Blackpool need to know first.

"My daughter is saying don't go because she likes her school!

"I'll show them (Blackpool) the respect they deserve but that doesn't matter what the decision is, I'll be in work as normal tomorrow and I'm sure you'll know in due course.

"But it's brilliant tonight, you know how much the FA Cup means to me and that's why I'm looking forward to the next round now.

"I'm over the moon with all the players - I'm ecstatic because we've just beaten Sheffield Wednesday and we've never done that either.

"I can't wait to go to Loftus Road, it's a proper football ground and the fans there are very vocal."

Williams fired an expert spot-kick into the top corner to put the Dons ahead in the 28th minute, after Bowditch had been dragged back in the box by Lewis Buxton.

Daniel Powell was then denied one-on-one by Owls goalkeeper Stephen Bywater before Bowditch sealed the win in the 75th minute when his inswinging free-kick flew through a crowd of players and crept in at the far post.
