Reece Wabara: Successful stint at Boundary Park

The Latics secured an extension to Wabara's stay at Boundary Park to take in Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool and he did not disappoint, heading the vital third goal to crown an excellent individual display as Paul Dickov's men held out for a famous 3-2 triumph.

The England Under-20 defender has made 29 appearances for the League One outfit this season and Platt is impressed with his progress.

He said: "His loan had finished and they asked to extend it so he could play the game, so to get the winning goal is terrific.

"Reece needed to play matches at a higher level than reserve games, he's taken his opportunity and done very well.

"We'll have to see what happens."
