Steven Pressley: Takes plenty of positives

Just 24 hours after taking control, Pressley saw his side come from behind to scure their fourth away victory on the trot.

"It was a wonderful first game for me and what excites me most is that I think there is a lot more to come from these players," said the former Falkirk manager.

Coventry looked in trouble when they fell behind after only eight minutes when striker Akpo Sodje headed home. But skipper Carl Baker fired the Sky Blues back on level terms on the stroke of half time and former Iron striker Leon Clarke headed the winner after 77 minutes.

"Scunthorpe put us under pressure in the opening 10 minutes," said Pressley. "But what encouraged me was the way we responded to that. The players showed me effort and character in abundance on what was a difficult afternoon with the weather and the pitch.

"Their response to going behind was magnificent. To me, they were outstanding. I thought we passed the ball well in difficult conditions, we defended well.

"And it is is wonderful for us to have someone like Leon Clarke up front. His goal ratio at this club is very good and he is a great asset to have."

It was Clarke's 10th goal for Coventry and the 11th away win of the season for the Sky Blues as they look to force their way into play-off contention with a late run.

But to do that they will have to improve their form at home, where they have won only five times.

Pressley added: "That is something we will have to look at. But there are no promises from me other than to work very hard to make things better."
