The Iron remain a point from safety following three straight league defeats and after drafting in Wolves teenager Anthony Forde in time for him to make his debut in last Saturday's defeat at Notts County, Laws wants to give his side's relegation fight a further boost.

"While we're very mindful of the position we're in," he told the club's official website. "I think we have to make sure we keep our finger on the pulse.

"We will be prepared to pounce, and if there is an opportunity I'll take it.

"It doesn't mean to say something is going to happen, but I'll be prepared and I'm certainly looking to see if I can do anything before that period.

"I also have to do a bit of wheeling and dealing along the way, but it's a case of watch this space.

"There might be a possibility and if nothing comes off it won't be for the lack of trying. I'll be trying as hard as I can to achieve it, but a few things will have to happen to trigger it."
