Murphy, 23, shook off a troublesome groin complaint with the help of a painkilling injection to captain Alex to a 2-0 victory over Southend in Sunday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The player opened the scoring is sumptuous style from a cleverly worked corner routine before going on to control large parts of the play with an accomplished individual performance.

Davis insists the League One outfit have received no offers for their prized asset as yet but expects Murphy to go the way of former team-mates Nick Powell and Ashley Westwood, who joined Manchester United and Aston Villa respectively last summer.

"We haven't had any enquiries for Luke. A lot of people have been watching. Maybe something might happen in the summer, who knows?" Davis said.

"He's a very talented lad. We feel he's better than Ashley Westwood because he's a goalscoring midfielder.

"Where he's going to go? I don't know. When he's going to go, I don't know either. I've had no enquiries but I'm sure something will come of that, maybe in the summer. And he'll go with our blessing because he's ready to go. We can't hold on to him forever."

Railwaymen assistant manager Neil Baker echoed those thoughts.

He said: "We're not pulling wool over anybody's eyes. If I was a Premier League or a Championship manager I'd be looking at him and that's going to happen.

"I'm surprised he's still with us to be honest with you and I'd be even more surprised if he kicks the season off with us in August, but that's not cut and dried."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
