Shakers boss Kevin Blackwell confirmed at the weekend that the former Manchester United defender, along with the PFA, had contributed some funds to the club to help pay wages.

Bury publicly appealed for £1million of public funds to prevent them from folding in early April and the club's board continue to search for investment.

Taylor hopes they come through their problems and offered praise to Neville, whose mother, Jill is the club's secretary and general manager while his father Neville is a former director.

"That is typical of Gary 's character. I wasn't surprised to hear that about him," he told the Manchester Evening News

"It is massive that a club like Bury have people like this. The Neville family have been an integral part of the club for a number of years now.

"We're just hoping that everything goes well and they get the investment they need. There is a place in the football tapestry for them and we need to keep them alive."

The Bury board released an update on their search for investors on the club's website.

It read: "Bury Football Club are in continued discussions with a number of interested parties to secure the future of this great football club.

"These negotiations are both lengthy and complicated and, at the time of going to press, we have nothing more concrete to report."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
