The 28-year-old, out of contract since the end of last season, featured in a friendly match earlier this week and he will now meet with Saddlers manager Dean Smith in attempt to sort out his future.

"It's up to the manager really and what he offers," Westcarr told the Express and Star.

"At the minute, I am here training but I have got to sit down with the manager. I would like to stay. Hopefully, we can sort things out sooner rather than later - you can't stick around for too long.

"I just need to wait for the manager so we can sit down and try to sort something out this week, or that's it probably."

lassic management. Build them up and then knock them back. Raise expectations and then dampen them. Create a dynamic where by you demand the most from your team, but where the team are given room to manoeuvre unexpected or unwanted results. Classy work by Van Gaal, he really reminds me a lot of me. A smart cookie, make no doubt.
