Crewe manager Steve Davis has revealed he is closing in on a replacement for departed skipper Luke Murphy.

The 23-year-old moved to Leeds earlier this summer and Davis is targeting a new addition in the middle of the park.

"We are close to one and hopefully we can conclude something by the end of this week or into next week," he told the club's official website.

"If we can do something then it would be a great addition to our squad."

Meanwhile, Davis remains hopeful he can bring former loanees Chuks Aneke and Brad Inman back to the club.
