Nottingham Forest's interest in the French winger first surfaced over the summer, and has continued to simmer since the close of the transfer window.

With Football League clubs still able to discuss loan deals, the Reds have refused to concede defeat in their efforts to bring Sako on board.

Wolves are, however, reluctant to do business.

Chief executive Jez Moxey has conceded that Sako has been left "unsettled" by the ongoing transfer talk, but has rubbished reports suggesting he has gone on strike in an effort to engineer an exit.

Jackett has now backed up those comments, with the manager at Molineux making it clear that Sako remains very much part of a squad looking to piece together a League One promotion push.

He told Sky Sports News: "There has been no agreement between the clubs - between Wolves and Nottingham Forest - although Forest have been strongly interested for the last few weeks in particular.

"No agreement has been reached and Sako is a Wolves player. He's looking forward to our next batch of games."

Asked if Sako is still in his thoughts, with the games coming thick and fast for Wolves at present, Jackett added: "Yes, he is.

"He's been a good player for us this season. He's scored five goals already, which is a good return. I've been very pleased with both his attitude and his quality."

The former Millwall manager told the Wolves website that the Frenchman had been sufffering from illness and said: "Maybe it's stress related, I don't know but he had been ill in the run up to to the weekend. He came in yesterday when we did a warm down and I talked to him at length.

"He's slightly still under the weather but I anticipate him being 100 per cent in a day or so. We're talking about a lad who is first class and a very good player.

"Talks of strikes or downing tools are very much wide of the mark and I have always found Sako to be a very good professional.

"I don't think I'm going to select him tomorrow night (Johnstone's Paints) - I think I'm going to go with a different combination and some younger players."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
