No defender move for Shrews

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner is unlikely to acquire a defender on loan as three of his injured players are nearing full fitness.

Goldson: One of three defenders injured

Injuries have robbed the Shrews of Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, Connor Goldson and Reuben Hazell, leaving them short of cover at the back.

But Cansdell-Sherriff is ahead of schedule as he makes his way back from a shoulder injury while Goldson and Hazell have returned to training after suffering back and ankle injuries respectively.

"Our three injured defenders are all doing well," Turner told the Shropshire Star. "Connor Goldson's making good progress and it's just been a bit slowed by having to go on the artificial surface.

"Reuben's made such good progress on his injury that we wouldn't want to jeopardise it by playing on artificial surfaces.

"Shane Cansdell-Sherriff's coming along nicely, too. The only thing with him is that if he fell awkwardly on his shoulder that might do further damage. But it doesn't look as though he will be out as long as we first feared so a signing is not a huge priority."

his is for the best, his hunger would be in serious question now after winning everything with us. A true Chelsea legend, up there with Osgood and Zola, come back and see us now and then Didier. And as Martin Tyler said on Saturday night....he is immortal at Chelsea. What a way to go out eh....Good luck big man wherever you land next.

ne of the many delights of the final few seconds of the season was seeing little Mike Owen with his trackie off and full replica kit on, getting ready to celebrate having contributed NOTHING all season. Would have been on a par with Terry's carry-on in Munich.
