Pitman stressed the respective two campaigns are difficult to compare due to the increase in quality in League Two.
The Bulls are currently 21st in the table with 26 points from 28 games - two places and three points above the drop zone. That is in comparison to the same stage last season when Pitman's charges were six points better off albeit still only in 20th - three places and four points clear of danger.
The reduced points total but relatively similar position could be put down to what is a more competitive division boasting better players and better teams.
Pitman said: "I think it's how the league is panning out this year but also it is a concern, obviously. And that's because our home form has been so bad.
"Last year at least we'd draw our home games, but we haven't really picked up any points at home, that's the problem.
"So yes it's a concern, of course it is, but you can't compare because I think the league is better than it was last year. What you've got to do is knuckle down and keep trying to win games."
