Coleman left the Crown Ground to become Dale boss in January but was unable to prevent the club from returning to League Two following two seasons in the third tier.

It means he will come face-to-face with the club he enjoyed a 13-year association with next term and the Liverpudlian is not predicting a cosy reunion.

"Well I know quite a few of the Accrington fans are delighted that we got relegated," Coleman told BBC Late Kick-Off North West.

"My message to them is be careful what you wish for because sometimes your wishes come true.

"They might not want to face me next season."
