The pair have been instrumental in Town's promotion to League One since arriving from Barnsley and Southampton respectively.

And now the Italian is targeting them as his first summer signings with McEveley out of contract and Holmes out of favour.

"In the next few days we are going to make a decision on the players for sure, but first we must meet with the board and the club to look at and discuss the situation," he told the Swindon Advertiser.

"They are very good players and I really think positively about them, but I want to know for sure what is going on with the club and the board, because if we were in a club who can keep everybody and sign other players then that would be easier.

"In terms of my opinion on the way they play and the quality they have got, obviously I would like to keep them."
